Ted Cassidy is an iconic actor that has had many eye and ear-catching roles on TV and in the movies. He's most famous for playing Lurch on the Addam's Family TV series which first aired in 1964. Do you notice a theme with a lot of the TV shows and characters in this March countdown to my 50th birthday?
Ted Cassidy is another rare combination of height, voice, facial structure and sense of humor that made him perfect to play Lurch. His "YOU RANG?" is a sound clip legend.
Ted Cassidy also played a very important unseen part in one of my favorite TV series The Incredible Hulk. He did the voiceover for the intro to the show, plus he also provided the roars and growls of the Hulk himself. The Hulk's voice in the last couple seasons of the show were voiced by another actor after Cassidy died from complications following open-heart surgery in 1979.
Ted Cassidy had one of the coolest voices on the planet in my opinion.
