Another iconic TV character to be seen for the first time in 1964 was Herman Munster. Fred Gwynne, the actor that played Herman had a unique combination of height, humor, voice quality and a facial structure that was perfect for a wacky, Frankenstein-parody character. Other actors have since tried to play the part of Herman Munster, but none has come even close to pulling it off as Fred Gwynne did.
Aside from the year 1964 being the year Herman Munster was "born", Fred Gwynne and I have another thing in common; humorous illustration! Fred Gwynn was also an illustrator. In fact he picked up his art interest and talent from his mother who was a cartoonist!
Last year I picked up these three books, written and illustrated by Fred. Very funny and well drawn too.
