It's time to announce the final contest in the CreationWise 20th Anniversary Celebration. Back in November a family situation came up and I was unable to complete the final two contests at that time. As an update, the third contest winners have been notified and they (David C, Joshua W, and Erkka J) will be receiving their autographed CreationWise printed cartoons in the next week. So that leaves one final contest:
YOU Could Be IN An After Eden Cartoon!
There will be only one (1) winner in this final contest. The prize is the winner will be drawn as a character in one, new, yet to be created After Eden cartoon! I will also print out the cartoon, autograph it and mail it to the winner.
There are four steps to complete to enter the contest:
1. Share three (3) of my cartoons from my Facebook page to your Facebook page.
2. Comment on this blog posting and let me know if you follow any other cartoonists on Facebook and if you do, share their Facebook page address in your comment.
3. In your comment on this blog, also write ideas to help me to gain more likes on Facebook. What kinds of things would you like to see on my Facebook page that are not already there?
4. Send me your email address so I can contact you (if you win) to get your photo so I can draw you in the After Eden cartoon. A good quality photo of the winner will be required to be sent after the winner is notified. Your email addresses will not be used for any other purpose outside of this contest. Send your email to: danltoons@yahoo.com
Only the winner's first name will be used in the cartoon.
The contest will end on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 12:00 noon EST. I will select the winner with the help of a dice and post the results on Facebook and my blog later the same day.
You may enter this contest as many times as you like, however you must complete each of the four steps completely as listed above with each entry.
If the winner does not respond to my email to him or her within 5 days, a new winner will be selected.
New After Eden cartoons are posted on Fridays. The After Eden cartoon in which the winner will appear may not appear on the following Friday. It's production schedule will depend upon my current demands and deadlines. I will produce the cartoon as soon as I am able to do so.
This contest is not connected to Facebook in any way.
I do not follow any other cartoonists on facebook, so nothing I can share.
ReplyDeleteAs for an idea for a cartoon, I imagine something involving St. Maximilian Kolbe. As a Catholic and a Creationist, I admire him a lot as he was a priest who criticized evolution for its hateful, racist use in Nazism, and died taking a Jewish father's place in a concentration camp when they were executing some prisoners as punishment.
Because most Catholics (ignorantly) talk down creationism, I think a cartoon involving St. Kolbe would get a good conversation going. Can Catholics be creationists? What moral dilemmas do Christians face when they accept evolution? And so on.
I understand if you wouldn't want to do that as a Protestant, but this Catholic creationist chick would love you even more if you went with it in the end, lol.
Whoever wins, God bless!
I do not follow any other cartoonists. You could ask people to go on your page and invite their friends to like your page. I would like to see you do some tutorial videos on how you draw cartoons and/or come up with the ideas for your cartoons. (I personally would like to learn cartooning!) my email is ffvet1@gmail.com. ReplyDeleteThe cartoonists I follow on facebook are Michael Ramirez, Dave Granlund and AF Branco.

I would like to see something involving the Ferguson situation. There should also be something that deals with the sin of racism too.
ReplyDeleteI don't follow any other cartoonists. However, from reading the "Sunday funnies", I enjoy yours the most. They are the closest to reality. They are fun, and funny, and inspiring and thought provoking.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that if you could use or "cartoonize" some of the more popular video game characters like assassins creed, dragon age inquisition, etc.. And incorporate them into the creation message that would peak the interest of a great many people.
ReplyDeleteFor example:
Dragon age Inquisition,
When was the age of dragons? And was it really an inquisition?
That's my suggestion. ☺️

The cartoonists I follow above are listed by likes. The first two are embraced by a larger audience because they draw well known pop culture characters. The last two artists' cartoons fit smaller niches and are simply not as likely to get constantly shared or liked.
Likes are tricky to come by even a small, faithful group of followers. A simple promotion to "like and share" on a post can introduce your art to a wider range of people. I enjoy seeing your process just as much as the product so more of that is highly appreciated.

ReplyDeleteI also follow Tim Hartman, whom my wife has known since they were teenagers.

One possible way to get more visitors to your page would be to post more of your earlier cartoons. That way those whom have only recently found your page can be touched and challenged more.
It might be interesting to see you post on your page some of the thoughts that were behind some of these earlier cartoons.
Keep up the great work!
You are the only cartoonist i follow.
ReplyDeleteTo get more 'likes' you could join some groups on facebook for Young Earth Creationists, and other Apologetic groups and share your work on there.

I don't follow any other cartoonists on Facebook. I like the idea of tutorial videos that someone already mentioned. ☝ Other than that I don't know what else you could do.
